An Eighteenth Century African Habitat: Preliminary Archaeological Data of Ndor

Abstract

Archaeological excavation done in Nde Division continues to reveal new sites with new types of material remains. The discovery of potsherds, grinding stones and handles in Ndor has provided new knowledge on the lifestyle of the eighteenth century population of the Nde Division. The discovery of the archaeological remains, especially the grinding stones served as evidence of prolonged settlement, social and cultural interactions on this historical site. Based on a variety of primary and secondary sources, this paper relied on the interdisciplinary theory to reconstitute the lifestyle of this ancient population. This paper further exposes some aspects of the daily life of the Ndor people based on knowledge provided by oral tradition and other scientific disciplines.
